6.11. `Arp Manager` command

6.11.1. Introduction

The `Arp Manager` command is used:

  • To add an entry to the GCenter ARP table

  • To delete an ARP entry made via the ARP Manager

  • To clear the ARP cache of entries made via the ARP Manager

Note

It is used in specific cases, for example if a diode is found between the GCenter and a piece of equipment on the network.

Depending on the situation:


6.11.4. Procedure to access to the `Arp Manager` submenu

The configuration menu is displayed.

  • Select the `Arp Manager` line or press the letter A.

  • Click on the `OK` button.
    The `Arp Manager` window is displayed:
    Choose a task
    
          Add entry        Adds an ARP entry
          Delete entry     Deletes an ARP entry
          Clean cache      Cleans all the ARP cache

  • Press the `Exit` key to return to the menu.


6.11.5. Procedure A: Adding an ARP entry

The `Arp Manager` window is displayed:

Choose a task

    Add entry        Adds an ARP entry
    Delete entry     Deletes an ARP entry
    Clean cache      Cleans all the ARP cache
  • Select the `Add entry` line or press the letter A.

  • Click on the `OK` button.
    The `Add ARP entry` window is displayed:
    Add an IP Address and its corresponding MAC address
         MAC Address
         IP  address
    
  • Enter the parameters.

  • Press the `Add` button to confirm the selected choice.
    or Press the `Exit` key to return to the menu.
    The `Add ARP entry` window is displayed to indicate the addition of the new ARP entry.
  • Press the `Exit` key to return to the menu.


6.11.6. Procedure B: Delete an ARP entry

The `Arp Manager` window is displayed:

Choose a task

    Add entry        Adds an ARP entry
    Delete entry     Deletes an ARP entry
    Clean cache      Cleans all the ARP cache
  • Select the line `Delete entry` or press the letter D.

  • Press the “Accept” button.
    The `Delete ARP entry` window is displayed:

Note

If there is no entry then the message `Nothing to delete` is displayed. Press the `Accepter` button.

  • Select an IP address to delete by checking the line and press the `Accepter` button.
    The `Delete ARP entry` window is displayed:

  • Press the `Accepter` button.


6.11.7. Procedure C: Clearing the ARP cache

The `Arp Manager` window is displayed:

Choose a task

    Add entry        Adds an ARP entry
    Delete entry     Deletes an ARP entry
    Clean cache      Cleans all the ARP cache
  • Select the line ` Clean cache` or press the letter D.

  • Press the `Accepter` button.
    The `Clean cache` window is displayed:

    Note

    If there is no data to clean then the `Nothing to clean` message is displayed.

    • Click on the `Accepter` button.
